Title: Mandruzzato
Post by: adam20 on August 26, 2011, 10:23:50 PM
I see many of the vases below attributed to Mandruzzato however I include photo of red vase with Murano label (generic) - c1960s - this can't be Mandruzzato, can it?

See here http://www.modernistglass.com/manufacturers/mandruzzato

Many well known firms made these cut glass sommerso vases - I have had Nason (see photo) and other firms.

Still a lot of confusion on eBay regarding these - any further info welcomed

Thanks Adam

Hi Adam,
I have 3 of these vases, one is labelled "V.A.M.", another one "V.M.P." (I guess generic labels as well).

I visit Venice quite frequently, and see them in almost every souvenir shop -- still produced in abundance I would say.
So I guess impossible to tell maker (without a factory label) or age...

Thanks Michael

I do like them but agree its not really possible to locate a maker, and I have also seen them in gift shops in abundance.

Mandruzzato has a site at http://www.mandruzzato.ve.it/ where you can check the shapes and colors. The second picture looks a lot like their work, but others did vases almost identical. One thing that will help rule out Mandruzzato on Vase #2 is that their vases are ground so that the diamonds have a sharp point at the base. When you look at the bottom, there will be a square. Other companies end bluntly, so when you look at the bottom, it will be almost square, but there will be 4 short sides created by the cut facets. If you have these, you can rule out Mandruzzato.
