Rene Roubicek from 1985, pattern number 8528 / 6 and found in the 1989 Skrdlovice Glassexport catalogue here (https://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/SkrdloviceGlassexport1989?authkey=Gv1sRgCMqW0Lz7qcHkzgE#5514574788601090450).
6cm tall, 8cm wide and weighing 573g
OK, so not particularly 'pretty' but a perfectly interesting item for my collection... plus I don't believe anyone else has got one. :P

:o :o :o
Wow - what a TREASURE - do you know if Mr. Roubicek would have had any personal involvement in its making or is it "simply" his design?
Either way, an important bit of history. :) :) :)
(I'm a very lucky owner of a beautiful book on Roubicek and Roubrikova's work, "Sklo" published by the Studio Gallery, London)

Treasure? I guess that's one way of looking at it. ;) Thank you, Sue!
I doubt Rene Roubicek had a hand in actually making the object... maybe Robert (bOBA) can enlighten us if he pops in.

Isn't this the first Skrdlovice paperweight we had so far? -- Lucky you! :)

At least I've found two people (besides me) who can appreciate my 'objet d'art'... My husband wasn't as gracious. ::)
Thank you!

Excellent thing there Anik, I like it too, your attribution is spot on, I thought it was Oliva for a bit. For completeness I have the catalogue companion piece! (Objet d'art is good too, I don't think I have many purpose built document securing glass items either...)

Purpose built document securing glass items... lol. I think I'll stick to the term objet d'art. It's got more panache.
Robert, your Nosek piece is great, and because of its colours, more attractive than the catalogue version. Absolutely fantastic photograph, by the way!
Next , I'd love to get my hands on a R. Beranek 7105 paperweight...

Make that four admirers for your objet d'art, Anik. I have never seen one before.

4 admirers... what more could a girl ask for?
Thank you everyone!
