Title: CAN ANYONE HELP WITH INFO ON THIS PAIR OF GLASSES/TUMBLERS
Post by: millarart on March 28, 2006, 06:29:11 PM
Hi to all,
came across this pair of glasses/tumblers in a local charity shop and was hoping that some one or some people can help with any information on them such as maker  country or origin and what they were made for, they are yellow with patches of white  with a lovely raised design with gilding and enamels??, they stand 3 and a 1/4 inches high, my first thought was maybe they were made and giving to a couple on there wedding, also anyone any idea of dates, any help would be great,
due to a slight hitch the pictures shall follow shortly
                          cheers Gary

Stettin was a German sea-port at the time this was made. After 1945 became part of Poland, still is. So Swedish, German and Polish glass houses are a possibility as well as Bohemian!

I would not be surprised   if these were made by Fritz Heckert in Silesia.

Hi Gary,  The links you gave from the address bar are dynamic and have changed with later uploads. To add a link use the URL given in the File Information section below the image and this will always serve up the correct picture regardless of changes to the albums. :)

On principle late victorian is not a term I'd apply to German glass and I would think pre-war would be a more accurate description. I have no way of telling if these glasses were made in the last decade of the 19th ct or in the early years of the 20th; a date as late as the 1930s could be possible.
Collectors of these items are found in Germany where some people collect items from the good old days, before the east was lost (sarcasm mode off) or reallyn specific items such as these.

When you write your listing, send me a copy and I (rather carmen) will do a German translation. List it on eBay.com then you can be reasonably certain it will be seen by those who care and those who search on German words. Interestingly when I tried listing on eBay germany, two went to US, one to Latvia and none to Germany! Now Latvia is not so far from this port...  :x

Gruss = greeting, not gift, and of course these are souvenir pieces.
