Hi
I remember seeing a similar vase in a glass reference book which I have now mislaid so any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
3 1/2" high x 3 1/2" across ... 3 sided.
Lovely random inclusions. Weighs just under 800g
Flat ground base with no markings so no point in overworking the photo slave for pics of that ;)

Avem Tutti Frutti - unless the bottom is matt, in which case it is a Chinese copy - of which there are tons around.
-
When did the chinese start copying them? I have had this about 15 years.

The copies have been going on for a while. The older ones will have that matt base. It might be worth asking for a photo of the base. :)

This one looks more like AVeM to me than the Chinese pieces.
Most of your AVeM tutti fruttis will have smoothly polished bases. I've seen one exception -- a vase that was made for KB. The base was slightly frosty looking, instead of being finished to the final high gloss. It was not matte as many Chinese and US pieces are. It was just not as well finished as I would expect for AVeM. It had the KB and a generic Murano sticker. I think it was AVeM. Maybe they were just in a hurry with a large order so didn't take the base to the final stage?? I attached a picture of the vase. The flash was used to bring out the slight matte finish of the base -- it was barely visible under normal light.

I would go with A.V.E.M .JP

I agree with Avem.
Or Avem style, due it is a pretty simple technique and many other glass guys can do something like this.
Anyway I agree that it is Murano and at 90% Avem

Mine has a very matt butt >:( so I'm assuming Chinese copy but its a lovely piece of glass nonetheless. I will list it as honestly as one can on E-Bay.

How matte is the butt? (I never thought I'd say that sentence. :-X) Is the base less finished than the one I showed above?
-
Sadly yes it's a very matt butt as butts go. Pity. Lovely bit of glass. Annie (aka My Butt is Matt) :24:

Looks like we're going to have to take the AVeM off the title and go with Ivo's Chinese copy. This one definitely fooled me. The color and canes look so AVeM. I'm glad your butt was matte or we'd have never known the difference.
I am loving labels more everyday.
-
My canes are gorgeous but my butt is matt. What more can I say? As for labels they can be copied and moved .......
Annie :24:

...and signatures can be copied. But a matte butt lives on.
-
Oh by the way I do have a shiny butted so presumably AVEM tutti frutti but not nearly so nice imho..... will be listing both over the weekend so take a look at the MarketPlace for my link :-[

Presumably a matt butt could be polished? Just a thought. Annie xxxx

I'm still on Murano glass ID.
There some canes that, up to now and in our local market, I haven't seen on chinese glassworks.
Probably be a second draft or just a test piece made by a young "garzone de fornasa".

oooo and errrr .... maybe my matt butt is still Italiano and not a No 49 with Prawn Crackers?
:24: Annie xxxxx
PS would pics of my butt and closer pics of canes help at all????
-
O yes!
I would like to see some closeups from different sides and of the small murrina pieces. Also base can be useful, but, if it is a second draft, every kind of finishing is possible.
It is very heavy? And how thick is the bottom in proportion with the top part?
Ciao

No problem. I will get the Photo Slave (see posts on other forums) to photograph both my matt butt and intimate closeups of mu murrina :)
Good job we've been married for 23 years really :24:

It is a heavy bit of glass for its size. As for the proportions of my bottom to my top (Brigitte Bardot eat your heart out!!!)) ............ :hiclp: the bottom is about a third thicker than the sides if that helps at all
To me it is a lovely piece of glass ... and we have had a fair few lovely pieces of glass .....
