Title: blue bubble glass vase tumbler English?

Hi all,
I was wondering if this bubbly tumbler-vase could be 1930's English, it has a polished pontil rod mark and is quite well made...

any ideas welcome,

Hi Robert its not English but Scottish, to be precise Monart, the shape code is YB and colour code 170.

Thanks Gary and John! I was a million miles away thinking it may be English. I am happy to be corrected! I conclude also that it is intended to be a small vase, not a drinking vessel.... Thanks for the attribution, my first piece of Scottish glass.

Hi Robert  how tall is your piece. The smaller sized YB's were intended to be used as  drinking glasses, if you have access to I Turner and F Andrews book Ysart Glass, you will see on page 67 a decanter (shape BC) and set of six glasses (shape YB).

10.5cm. I think I have a Monart drinking glass....? That is OK by me... If so, I need to find a matching decanter eventually I suppose... what an outrageous pattern!

The bubble inclusion type decoration is certainly one of Monart's more outlandish creations. This type of decoration was used through out Monart life span. The size and amount of bubbles varied immensely, as can be be seen in the link below.

Good luck on finding a decanter with that type of decoration or in fact any Monart decanter as the are quite rare.
Perth Museum have a decanter (BC) and a set 6 glasses (YB shown below) which I believe came from the F Andrews collection.

I won't be collecting Scottish I don't think, but as mistakes go (trying to grow my modest English glass collection) it is not a bad one!

Thanks for the precise information Gary, highly instructive. My chances of a decanter are very slim I think.... but nicely made things these glasses....

Glasses YB http://www.ysartglass.com/Moncat/Page03.htm but as yours are 10.5 cm that is a new size, not in catalogue. More sensible size too, the others were tiny.
