A great buy at a show today...... This piece measures approx 7.5 inches long, 5.25 inches wide at the mouth, 3.75 inches tall. Polished base with age appropriate wear. Any ideas on house that produced it??
TIA

I searched a little to see if I could ID your shell or cornucopia, but didn't have any luck. The color and gold makes me think of Archimede Seguso. I hope we can find one with a label.

My initial reaction to it when I found it was Seguso....... but I am always skeptical until I can link it some way solid.. It is generally not the type of shape I gravitate towards, but the colors and execution are so clean I had to buy it...... that, and the fact that it was only $7.50 ::)

Craig:
My first thought was Archimede as well. Whoever did it, it's a very nice example, and bigger than than most. In fact, it must be quite hefty. Nice find. $7:50? Cheaper than a McDonald's meal and many times more healthy.

I have the same thoughts also on this as being possibly being Archimede Seguso. The only other maker I could think of is SVdA. But I have only ever seen the SVdA pieces in clear & gold.

Hello all, the following link was provided to me on another forum.... The piece appears to be Archimede Seguso. The example in this link is labeled.

A slightly different variation of the form with a different mouth, but basically the same piece.

Really nice find, Craig!! $7.50!! What a heck of a deal. :hiclp: My thoughts are AS too. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one with a label for you.

If made in the last 15-20 yeas, I would say Donà or Donà for Gabbiani. The Donà factory had many pieces, including Cornucopias, produced with that kind of orange/gold/crystal...
Also BMC produced similar items, for their sales as for Gabbiani Too.
Ciao!!

I am attaching images of a labeled piece in what appears to be the same glass but a different form of shell/cornucopia. This piece is approx 4.5 inches long.
The images are from an ebay auction, and posted with the permission of the seller who I contacted.
There are a couple of links on here for similar pieces, but links seem to have a tendency to not work in a year or two.

Thanks for posting, Craig. I wasn't aware that SVdA made shell bowls.

I usually see the SVdA ones mainly in clear and gold. Haven't bought one yet because the ones I have seen for sale haven't had a label. Still holding out though...

Hi Tami as I continue to look for A.S. I am amazed at what SVdA produced that A.S. used the design of. It makes one appreciate the designing ability of Poli particularly.

So true, Ardy.
