Acquired this today at my local car boot for £1 :hiclp: After scouring the net I managed to identify it as the Pineapple pattern produced by Sowerby. It has a high uranium content around the rim and also the base, not so much on the body. I never never knew that carnival glass pieces had this content before, have learned something new today. Is this quite common in carnival glass or might I have found a sought after piece?

sorry having probs loading pics

It's not uncommon in some US carnival, but Glen describes this piece as scarce and unusual (Carnival Glass: The Magic and the Mystery). The uranium content will be the same throughout. The iridising shields the UV effect though.

oooooooo that's interesting, as I said, never come across a piece before that has a uranium content.

Yes, Sowerby's vaseline Carnival (uranium) is very hard to find. Congratulations!
For a little more information on vaseline Carnival, you can read this (I wrote it some time ago but it still holds good, I think).

Hi there dinklepip:
I had that same question that i had posted in the Cafe over a month ago. I too never knew that either -- so you are not alone. I too had seen somewhere on the Net about this --so I wondered why I had never heard of this either.
