Not Monart then, Frank? ;)
-
It is Monart, shape code YA, colour code 162. Sadly with the base broken off.

The auction does say "AMENDED"...
is this another word we should look out for in listings?

It looks like it's up side down? Is that correct?

I think in this case they mean the estimate was amended and not a term referring to the condition of the vase.
The estimate imho was way over the top.

It is the correct way up, a link to what the vase should look like.

The vase was originally listed without the saleroom notice. The later notice means they got egg on their faces once someone told them. The original description just assumed it was something special and hence the estimate. Jackson style 8)
The way the metal holder was made should have been a red flag as it is clearly modern.

Ahhhhh I see, thanks folks, I'm with you all now. :)

I can understand the shape now, once I see it with the original shape. Shame about it, it could have been a lovely vase. And it's not bad with the holder (given that it's not got a leg to stand on), but that price would be a little silly.

is the shape or the colourway/decor rare? I'm assuming the decor/colour isn't, so is the shape?

The colourway is one of the most commonest used by Monart, the vase is fairly uncommon.
In perfect condition and in that colourway I would not have paid Bonhams top estimate, in a more unusual colourway I may have been tempted.
