seem to have oodles of wear to the base and the rim from years of
usage and has been fairly Naively engraved with floral motifs over
much of the body it measures 12 cm tall and has been signed to the
base with what looks like Boyz maybe?? Thanks for looking.

Glass / Murano / Misag Art Glass bird ornament - never heard of them!
« Last post by chilternhills on April 08, 2024, 09:09:26 PM »I bought this bird ornament the other day. It's quite well made. Looking online I found just a few similar items. Some say Murano, others say Misag Art Glass and Winston Porter Paperweight Collectible. I have never heard of Misag or Winston Porter. Can anyone shed further light on this?
The bird stands about 10 cm high and 10 cm from beak to tail. The piece is solid glass. The swag pattern is cased in clear glass. The black beak is applied as a separate piece of glass and is not pulled out from the rest of the body. There are no marks or labels on the piece.

It might be a lot easier to photograph and read if you were to rub some talcum powder over the signature with your thumb.
Or, given the colour of the glass, perhaps cinnamon or cocoa might be better?
It comes off easily, but sticks in the groves made.
Is that a folded foot on it?
Meaning, is the edge of the foot rim turned/folded under itself? Normally an ancient technique, I've never seen or heard of one on anything much more modern.
