Possibly Peter MacDougall - currently working in Perthshire - one of the last in the Perthshire "line".

Personally I include Jane Drysdale, in this "line" although her personal style is different, she is making beautiful fused glass under the name "Carnelian Crafts" in Crieff.   ;D
Her husband ran Perthshire until his very untimely and sudden death.  :'(

Hi Nick.

I think that is a typical Perthshire base, and the weight uses Perthshire canes. The weight is a later PP7 - sometimes called an 'Aladdin's Cave' design. I have had a couple recently, one with a Perthshire label.

I agree with Alan. See my reference pics below for a labelled example (no sig cane) on black ground. 2 3/4 inch (7 cm) diameter and 2 1/4 inch (5,7 cm) high.

Thanks guys, so did Perthshire change their bases to this more polished finish at some time then?

Hi Nick

I think the (very) simple answer is 'yes'.

The more complicated answer is that it depended upon the quality and design of the item.  For example, the early unlimited weight designs PP1, PP2, PP3 had fire polished bases (like Strathearn) until 1978. Afterwards they were hollow ground and polished.  Early PP4 and  PP5 weights had a flat polished, star cut base, changing to hollow ground and polished in 1972. Many unlimited designs only ever had hollow ground, polished bases.

I think all the Limited Edition Annual Collection paperweights had polished bases.

The Perthshire Paperweights book by Mahoney and McClanahan (on my website book list) gives comprehensive details of all these changes.

Thanks Alan that explains it my recent posting identified as a PP1 has a fire polished base with the pontil mark still evident much like my Strathern ones, unlike this onewith its very smoothly finshed base.
