Hi, just trying to i/d the origin and era of this weight. 3.25 inches dia and 2.75 inches tall. It weighs 825g with a polished flat base with ware scratches. Its a red interior surrounded in clear glass with controlled bubbles. I was thinking murano but not sure.
many thanks

Czech and sold under the Jaffe Rose label may be more likely

This sort of weight could have been made by anyone who owns a "pineapple" optic mold. Meaning almost anyone.
-
What I find intriguing are the bubbles inside the red layer? Not like anything I know of.

The "inner" bubbles could easily be just the "outer" bubbles on the far side showing through the transluscent red.
-
Hi the bubbles are not in the red part of the weight they just surround it.
Many thanks

I've also seen these in red, blue and green - with a Japanese label.

The Jaffe Rose ones I have seen have been mostly apples & pears with small tight bubbles or more of a dome shape paperweight with an inner core normally amber ruby or blue and green the bubbles tend to just in the core?
Also they would have imported glass from other sources including Murano.

Jaffe Rose are thought to have imported mostly Czech glass (though they dealt in China as well).

Just giving my opinion that it appears Jaffe Rose did import from other countries. I have seen boxed labelled examples in the domed shaped with the central coloured core similar to the one your gallery and a doorstop like this one in the link....

Which are well documented to be Czech.
The one in the post IMHO looks very different in style to these. Galliano Ferro is documented exporting from Murano through the importers Jaffe Rose and examples of the Jaffe Rose Murano import labels have turned up on Galliano Ferro pieces so perhaps another avenue to explore?
