Post by: lyndhurst44 on September 08, 2006, 01:01:03 PM
Here is a recent find in the above Ebony and Gold range that I don't think is included in Frank's Ysart etc. site. I have included backstamp to provide provinence.
The vase measures 11cms tall.

Hi Bryn,

No idea why I never saw this before  :?

Much better picture than the one I have. I do  have a complete revision of the Strathearn, post Ysart period, to be done. Just a matter of finding the time.
Title: books on scottish items

What are the 3-5 best books on Scottish glassmaking, with a strong emphasis on paperweights. Trying to find books that concentrate on the Ysart- Vsart -Monart output. Nothing on British - general U.K. - or Perthshire needed.

Ysart Glass: Me and others
Scottish Paperweights: Bob Hall.
The Art of the Paperweight: Perthshire: Selman (Covers Vasart)
Paul Ysart Paperweights (Title unknown): Colin Mahoney (Soon)

There is no fifth.

But full (Out of date) Ysart biblography see:

Thanks again Frank. Are you selling copies of your book on eBay? Or elsewhere?

I'm also going to have to get the Bob Hall Scottish book. I like his output. His World Paperweights: Millefiori & Lampwork is superb. You can tell there's a personality behind the writing and he's not just about advancing his own agenda, unlike other books, especially by a certain chap I won't mention.

I sell them via the website, but Selman is selling new copies on eBay at $140, he can't have many left. I have about a dozen left

Thanks. Unlike the unnamed chap I alluded to above, I'm sure there's a personality on display in your book.

Don't forget my Stuart Strathearn pages are not complete. More sizes were certainly made.

The very reason I posted the item Frank, to assist you towards that eventual completion, and to show that the items shown on the site were also made in other sizes.
