I found this website

 Zanetti  (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.zanettimurano.com/fornace.php&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dlicio%2Bzanetti%26hl%3Den%26hs%3DjQZ%26lr%3D%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official)

But it seems to contradict itself on who is son and who is father  :?

Oops! I read your message again and realize this is the website that probably lead to your confusion

Much of the glass listed here appears to be from Oscar, and the modernist nature of some sculptures could lead one towards the 1960s, hence the father.

I just came across this on the site (click 'about')
http://www.zanettimurano.com/fornace.php

Quote
The Zanetti Vetreria Artistica was founded in 1956 by the glassmaster Oscar Zanetti and his son Licio.

Hope this helps.  :)

Sorry that was me – the phantom log out caught me!

Like Connie I've just come across the next quote:

Quote
In 1989 master Licio Zanetti stepped down in favor of his son Oscar, who had been working by his side since his youth.

So this is no help at all! However, other sites seem to confirm Licio was very prominent around the 1960s, so I would say he is the father.

BUT, http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/manw-z.htm contradicts this with:

Quote
Zanetti, Vetreria Fratelli
Murano, Venice, Italy (1956 - )
Founded by Oscar Zanetti & his son Licio. Luciano Zanetti.

Grief, what a tangled "web" we lead...

How about son Licio named after his grand-daddy Licio?

Just a thought ...

Hi guys,
Oscar is the father.
His pieces have a good reputation here, in Venice.

Ciao!

Alex

Just a tad more Licio Zanetti did a number of works in the mid 1970's with Fulvio Bianconi. Might help a little on the time scales of his work.

Lucio stepped down as head of the firm in 1989 and Oscar took over, so gradually the picture becomes clearer.

Or murkier? Alex reckons that Oscar is the father...  :?

Perhaps Leni is right; there is more than one Lucio?

Only point would be David that it is far more likely that a designer of the status of Bianconi would have worked with the master rather than the son and the time scale involved also makes this more likely and the works are well documented as being with Licio.

Alex is a local and in the trade, so if he says Oscar is the father you can take that as certain.

Now I have a "?". It may be that "Licio" isn't "Lucio" and Oscar is in between? It can be an answer.
I know a Zanetti's family friend and I'll ask him the family tree...
I'll update you tomorrow with the final answer...

Hi Tony,

Yes, that link raised all the confusion in the first place...

Quote
The Zanetti Vetreria Artistica was founded in 1956 by the glassmaster Oscar Zanetti and his son Licio. The furnace quickly distinguished it self for the artistic quality of master Licio Zanetti's glass sculptures, and soon took its place among the most prestigious companies on Murano. In 1989 master Licio Zanetti stepped down in favor of his son Oscar, who had been working by his side since his youth.

Which infers that there could have been two Oscars :!: , or there's a mistake in this text!  :?

So it's possibly *son* Oscar, named after his grand-daddy Oscar!   :?

Hope Alex comes up with the facts for us!  Great to have an 'insider', isn't it?

Hi everybody,
I verified today and   I was wrong yestarday   :
Oscar is the son, Licio the father.
Instead there is a Lucio, but he is a lampworker, nothing to do with the other Zanetti family.
Sorry for the mistake, but I don't work with them.

Ciao

Alex

Hi Guys
Here is another link which may make it all a bit clearer.

http://objectsofenvy.com/zanetti-story.html

But this is all about Oscar.

Artofvenice
Thank you for your help, can you help with Licio ( Farther ! ) the photos I have posted are of a piece of his work Licio and it is signed.

Oscar made a piece like it only on a black base, this piece belongs to a friend, who knows I am very interested in glass so was given the task of researcher, forgive this question but also a value.

When Licio made this piece or any other how many where made 1 or 2 or ?

Many thanks to all of you for help with this, an interesting exercise.

The usual reason for this happening is that someone has posted a mesage which the moderator has spotted and deleted for some reason. Spam on the board has been a problem in some forums and this would trigger the message notification but by the time you visited the board our trusty moderator had done his stuff and the message was gone! :)

Hi Anne,

That would make sense. I spotted a 'spam' earlier on another thread which, by the time I'd notified Angela and Frank, had been wiped :)
