Title: Rose bowl English or Bohemian ?
Post by: malcmat on November 15, 2012, 05:04:16 PM
Hi, i am trying to i/d this pink satin finish bulbous  bowl with ruffled rim and decorated with ivy, glows yellow under UV light , 3.250 inches tall and 2.50 inches dia. It has 3 applied legs and a small concave pontil mark. I could not find anything similar with the 3 legs but plenty of images similar to the pink colours. Some Webb items were similar in decoration but really not sure. any help would be much appreciated.

It's Burmese, a nice find whether Webb or Mt. Washington.   The decoration looks like Jules Barbe workshop to me — if it is then it's Webb.   You need an expert on this, and I'm not, as some of the plants shown are fairly well-known, others are rare.

See Hajdamach I Appendix 7.3 pp433–4 Sequence of floral decorations painted on Burmese glassware.

It could be Webb's Ivy decoration ? there are a couple more examples on this thread to compare to

I would say definitely Webb; the decor is right, the colour is right, the pontil mark is right and the shape is right. Jammy b***** Ms green here

Here is its cousin, which you've just confirmed as Webb for me

PS It's not a rose bowl, rose bowl rims curve in and do not flare out again.
