Title: Webb Burmese with applied clear trim.
Post by: Jim Sapp on February 28, 2007, 11:46:17 PM
While surfing today, I came accross this unusual Webb Burmese bowl.

Apparently it is signed and has a classic Webb/Barbe decoration.  However, the applied glass trim is most unusual.  I have never seen anything like it.....but, I don't get out much.

Any thoughts on this piece?

Hi Jim,
sorry I can't help much, but this is a beautiful piece & thanks for sharing... :)
Never seen anything like it in any book or for sale. It certainly looks like the real deal in terms of Webb Burmese, & I guess the applied rim was a one-off, or experimental variant. Maybe a sample piece or even a special order? Whatever the story behind it, it's definitely gorgeous, & rare!

LOL ... I'm sorry. Here I am thinking - 'What, did they find it on the beach?'  Oh dear, better go have another glass of wine ::)

Beautiful piece by the way :D
