Title: Green satin powder bowl...
Post by: Anne on January 01, 2005, 02:41:21 AM
Having looked closely at this again it's very much like the pattern on the side of the Bagley Osprey vase I posted recently, which Bernard so kindly identified for me, so I am wondering if this is also a Bagley Osprey piece? Can anyone confirm or otherwise please? Thank you.

Anne,

No, it's not Bagley, nor is it British.   Almost certainly a powder bowl from a mainland European '30s trinket set.

Thank you for clarifying this Bernard, it is good to know what it isn't. Now to find out what it  is! (This is the story of most of my glass collection - mainly unidentified items!  ;) ) Out of my four powder bowls I can only ID one (Bagley Bedford) so far...

Hi Anne.  I'd also guess it was Czech, but it's very difficult to find out a paticular maker.

Thanks Wayne, Czech it seems to be. It's now got a sister as I've just bought a blue one in the same pattern. :)

Now this is one I'd like to own. Superb Art Deco styling, which makes it wonderfully 1930s and possibly Czech or French; leaning towards Czech.

I wish I had some info to contribute on this piece (as I learn more, I'll offer more; promise) Anne, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for asking that pictures be uploaded or reinstated as the pictures that accompany threads on this site are invaluable! This site is such a wonderful source of knowledge and idea sharing... I'm very grateful for having found it!

Thanks so much for all your hard work and generous sharing of information to all members!

Hi Anne.  I still can't help further with the green pot I'm afraid, but have you ever checked out this site for Art Deco and other pressed glass?

http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/index2.html (http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/index2.html)

If you click on the "covered dishes + boxes" link at the top, and scroll down to the "Reich" section, you will see one of your other trinket pots.  I hope this is of some help.  :)

Hi Wayne, thanks for the reply. I've been through Pamela's dressing table sets section but hadn't thought to check the covered boxes for the powder bowls! ::)  I see one of mine under Sindorf and some others I need to check out as well. Not the satin one above though sadly but we'll find it one day! :)
