Title: Strombergshyttan / Kronen Silver Decanters
Post by: Rmac on February 10, 2011, 10:30:35 PM
Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could tell me more about this pair of Strombergshyttan / Kronen Silver decanters I picked up. I looked far and wide online and found similar items but the silversmith was marked Dragsted. Both are marked Strombergshyttan E204 on the bottom and Kronen Denmark on the silver with 830 S with the crown. I really love them and get good use out of them but just looking for more info like value, production date and designer. It seems that the Kronen marked silver decanters are a little more rare but does this mean more valuable? The only info I have found in regards to these decanters is the sale price of $1500 for one decanter with the Dregsted markings at this antique store http://www.bgoecklerantiques.com/products.php?action=viewitem2&itemid=4769 (http://www.bgoecklerantiques.com/products.php?action=viewitem2&itemid=4769) . Any info would be great thanks!

Hi
sorry I can't belp but I just wanted to say what gorgeous decanters!  Values aren't usually discussed on the board, but I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable than me will be able to help with perhaps some more information on them.

'Kronen' is the maker's mark for Sølvvarefabriken Kronen - extant in Copenhagen between 1963 - 1975.

Stromberg outsourced their silver mounts to a few Danish silversmiths, including, as you say, Dragsted, as well as Dansk Guldsmede-Håndværk.

Thanks for the info guys! Does anyone know if there is any reference catalog/guide for production numbers and dates based upon the E204 markings?

Much appreciated

'E' is the code for decanter, and '204' places the design to about 1962 - but obviously it was produced a little after.
