Title: Is this a Scottish weight
Post by: malcmat on March 19, 2012, 04:19:16 PM
Hi, is this a Scottish weight please, just under 3 inches dia and 2 inches high. 472 gr on a blue ground. There is a concave depression on the base but not polished. There has been a small amount of base grinding to get the p/w to sit correctly.
Many thanks

Malc

Looks very early Strathearn to me, so yes/ Scottish around 1965.
     Hows that for a guess????

Roger's guess is good.

But it could also be a Vasart Ltd (1956 to 1964) weight!

Thanks KevinH, that would be nice if it was an earlier Yasart ltd weight. Still learning thank you all so much.

... earlier Yasart ltd weight ...
No such thing - but a few years ago several eBay selllers used "Yasart" in their listings so maybe I am wrong. ;D

Serioulsy though, there's not much difference between many Vasart Ltd weights and earlier Strathearn ones - both as good as each other and both simply a continuation of what was started by the Ysart men.
