Title: Green and gold leaf
Post by: Frank on March 02, 2006, 09:27:00 PM
Any ideas? Polished pontil, and base ground and polished sufficiently to prevent wobble. 20x15cm 4.5cm at highst point. Fine wear to base that could be 10 years or 50 years worth. The green appears to be at the edges only, fading gradually to clear and there is a single streak of green central on the pontil, the gold was applied in sheets with some overlap at the edges.

Hi Frank,
Looks like a Murano piece to me.

Hey Frank,
Not sure of a particular maker.
Is the green color very faint?

Hi Javier,

Yes, I suspect that it was flashed lightly or had a small amount of fine coloured enamel marvered in. The result being a gradation from edge to centre - it looks very well done as it gives the visual effect of the glass thickening to the edge much more than it does. If it was not for the small streak of colour at the centre, I would still be scratching my head about how it was done.
