Bought on chance from eBay and the piece turned out be much lovelier than I had imagined. High quality glass and what looks like high quality engraving. The large circles are lenses cut into the vase and then polished. The smaller circles are also lenses cut into the glass but with a matte finish. The glass is fairly thin, it's 20.7 cm high and 4.8 cm wide at the mouth. I assumed that that the acid etched "Made in Czecho-Slovakia" made it pre WWII, but I'm out of my depth here. All suggestions greatefully received.

Hi David, a really lovely piece in my opinion, it looks like a good quality blank and well considered abstract design.

My reading of this suggests 38-45 for your vase. Purely in terms of style I would veer towards 45 just because the abstract motif seems to prefigure some popular cutting styles of circa 1950. I cannot help with the designer or factory sadly. I think you have a good chance of someone recognising the style of blank linked to a factory, maybe CGR post 1950 on the Jindrich site will show some similar forms.... Also the designer may well have had a career in the 50's too, which may help with identification (eventually)... Also, thinking fleetingly, I am wondering if the use of an earlier blank is possible, if unlikely!!

Thanks for the information and opinion, Robert. They help the search and confirm my appreciation of the piece.
I had remembered that the dash in Czecho-Slovakia was important, but I couldn't remember the details. Neither was I certain that the dash represented a political situation rather than simply a line break. I'll keep looking through CGR as I found nothing in my Czech books.
Your help is much appreciated as always. Perhaps when Jindrich ends his career as a food photographer in Spain he might be able to help. He certainly seems to have a liking for squirmy things with tentacles.
