Title: 20th C i think cylinder vase with applied hoops - ID = Caithness

Hello, i have this cased smokey brown cylinder vase with two applied hoops, any ideas? 9 inch tall weighs 720grmms.

Caithness, probably designed by Domhnall Obroin in the mid 1960s. Info from 20th Century British Glass by Charles Hajdamach.

One of Domhnall's favourite designs from 1961. Probably got the idea from his teacher Miroslav Havel, who in turn got the idea from antique Waterford decanters. Named Ring vases.

Put it like this, it is one of the less common designs because it wasn't easy to make and the workforce wasn't the most skilled at the time (at least I think that's what the book says, as mine's on holiday in Scotland)

Something like that and that contrasting bands are rare... but we don't know how long a 'short' time was and how many they made in that time. Come back in 10 to 20 years and rarity should be clearer.

What an amazing thing to be able to do.

Im fairly new to this but realising and looking at glass in totally new way. What an emersive thing is glass.
