Title: Webb Corbett design from David Queensbury.
Post by: Paul S. on June 17, 2011, 05:37:45 PM
very pleased with this today, and hope the mark is of some use/interest also.     In the early '60's David Queensbury created several cut glass designs for Webb Corbett - and in the light of their popularity and success, he was asked in the mid '60's to provide four more, and this is one of those additional designs.      'Queensway' (fortunately the backstamp includes the design name) shows both clear and frosted circles broken by the deep upright mitres.     There is no mention of this particular design in the Webb Corbett centenary pamphlet from Broadfield House, and although both Jackson (20th Century Factory Glass) and Hajdamach (20th Century British Glass) show most of Queensbury's designs, I can't find a picture of 'Queensway'.      Diameter is something like 8"/200mm.   Very attractive modernist looking cut.

Very nice Paul,am always being surprised by the quality of mid 20th century design in British glass,so under-rated and until recently some thing I was unaware of, ;D ;D
