Title: Is this cluthra tecnique and who dunit??
Post by: gabla on July 19, 2006, 01:28:45 AM
This is 8” X 7” jug or  vase made with what I think is the cluthra technique.  The pontile is ground and polished. The last picture attempts to show the “seed bubbles” for this style. It has been suggested that this may be from a Scandinavian company. I I trying to find out who and when.

Forget about Cluthra where air bubbles are used in a much more ostentatious manner, this piece has straightforward seeds in the mass.

With a bit of luck though you're looking at an unsigned Höglund from the Boda period - but this will be very hard to certify.  In the worst case you have a well made vase from Poland or Russia.
