Title: Wanting to id a set of highball glasses
Post by: Veronica on September 28, 2009, 12:15:39 PM
Can anybody tell me the dimensions of the original (Nuutajarvi) highball glasses by Oiva Toikka known as the Flora series .
I have dimensions for the Arabia Finland period  and the Iittala period but am trying to place the ones I have.

So far I have found Arabia(1970's) measure 6 inches by 2.5 inches with a flower embossed on the bottom
The Iittala(1980's) being 11.5 cm and 6.5cm with no embossing but heavier than the early series (200grams)
Then I have mine which I am wondering are imitation or the original Nuutajarvi series???....they are 175grams 6.5cm x 12cm
Sorry for the cross over with dimensions!
Thanks for any help...
Veronica

Hi Veronica,
It would be helpful if you could post a photo.
The info I have for the originals (1966 production) are two sizes of 'tumbler', 15cl and 25cl (also a punch cup 10cl),[from Oiva Toikka, Glass, 1988].
There quite a number of different glass sizes introduced during the 70s. Be aware that the Arabia thing was just marketing - the glass was still made at the Nuutajärvi factory as before, just different boxes and labels.
Are yours clear or coloured? That can be another clue.
