Title: quality Murano glass bird, but which maker, seguso, toso or other
Post by: jonchellycain on May 31, 2010, 01:57:03 PM
Hi all
I bought a pair of these birds from a small antiques shop, they are nice quality and well made.
The glass is a milky pink colour with brown cased bubbles and lots of gold leaf detail.
I am pretty sure they are Murano im just a little confused as to which maker.
flat well polished bases (has 2 grooves from where the bubbles are), 15cm long, 9.5cm tall
many thanks
michelle

You have a gorgeous Fratelli Toso bird.

I got a pair lol. I thought they where Fratelle Toso, then got a bit confused when looking through Pina's book's Italian glass and Fities glass.
many thanks Anita

Fifties Glass is the worst book when it comes to Murano. There are so many mistakes. I'm glad her later books were better. I never use Fifties Glass. Sadly enough, it was the only Pina book that wasn't lost in the mail when I moved.   >:( It is the only one I wish had gotten lost.

I remember somebody saying a while back that her scandi books also have lots of mistakes in, such a shame as her books are beautiful.
thanks again Anita (p.s excuse the mistake, i know its Fratelli not fratelle... long day me thinks  :D)
