Title: ID of Blue Pyramid paperweight, please ?
Post by: jimbob2 on December 15, 2011, 09:10:22 PM
Hi,

I bought this paperweight many years ago, the first paperweight I ever bought and it got me hooked !

But I have never seen another one like it, or been able to identify it !

It is a pyramid/diamond/triangular shape and
has a pyramid cut in the back which gives it a 3D effect. In the light,a shaft of light appears to come out of the top of the pyramid and shine out of the paperweight.(created by an extra notch being cut in the back of it).

There is one bubble in the middle of the paperweight.
The marking on the bottom acts as the floor and is a circle with an aztec style design with lots of faces and characters on with a face in the middle.

The paperweight itself is a lovely kingfisher blue and is about 7cm high.

I can see no markings on it other than the aztec marking mentioned above, on the bottom.

Have tried to attach a picture but can't get it below the 125kb limit.

Any comments really would be appreciated !

Please see photos below, which have been shrunk and optimised to be within the board limits.

Try Googling "Mayan Pyramid of the Sun" I think it relates to your Pwt.

Hi Ahremck,

Many thanks for your reply -it certainly looks like it.

Will see if I can find some Mexican glass manufacturers (!) although I guess it could have been made anywhere !

Thanks for your help.
