came today in the post, a big lump of 4" across and and just over 2.5" high, my guess is a George Sarfi weight , i've had 3 of his weights before as members on here still might have them, the dome is clear not blue as in the photos , the flower is floating above a solid blue ground with a complex millefiori cane in the centre and the base is polished flat, any thoughts if it's a Sarfi weight

Hi Ray
Hum very strange - composed a reply posted it and it disappeared ! try again
I did a double take when I saw your string as I saw THIS! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260852236415?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D260852236415%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1) listed on e-bay.com
and I knew that it hadn't finished ! Identical to your new acquisition!
I still have one of the miniature Safri weights 1 1/2" diameter and the
subject matter is identical to your new weight, ground is cobalt but the
base is fire polished. Looks as if he must have learnt a few things
between making my miniature and your new example
Best regards
Derek

that one in your link Derek is a better set up than mine, the millefiori cane is much clearer and the petals are more lined up, mine must have been a trial piece lol, as George did not make many weights i wonder why there seems so many in the UK
-
Ray's example is Modern Chinese.
-
Care to elaborate as to why it is?
-
The central canes are modern Chi as is the base. These are seen frequently on ebay.
-
I have one in my collection.
