Title: czech Id please
Post by: Elmwood on June 01, 2009, 03:06:46 PM
Hi,

Second piece I adore, a citrine flower bowl, lovely organic shape, with a concave base, (unlike Sklo Pronounced inkwell. Polished outer rim again not as defined a SKLO.

Reminds me of JURNIKL flower bowl design?

Dimensions- 6" across, depth 2.25", 821g.

Any info would be very much appreciated, also if it is Polish can anyone recommend a good book or site, in anticipation of Marcus's impending research/come book......?

many thanks, Sharron

Hi Anne,

Well, thats a surprise.  The base is completely different to any of our other sklo pieces. Thanks for that Anne, Mike will be well chuffed with me....

Hi Sharon,

It is in Marcus' book, Sklo Union, Art Before Industry, page 60 (really worth buying, I promise!)

Hi Della,

Thankyou Della,

Sorry about my impatience to post....have now found the book, made a coffee and off into the garden for a little light reading........

I am sure Mike hides this book!!

Please be careful about the use of the word Sklo; it just means glass. So almost everything on this message board is sklo (except Janice's vase  ;D). The bird bath base is also not present on all Sklo Union glass, and the Sklo Union companies were not the only ones to use it, nor is it even exclusively Czechoslovakian. It's just a possible indicator. Hope that helps.
