Title: date Dartington glass by the label?
Post by: scavo on March 19, 2012, 10:38:05 AM
I assume Dartington labels and stickers changed over time? Must have.

I have a Show Stopper decanter, Frank Thrower designed in '68.

Does the sticker correspond or is it later? Does it make any difference to the value? In my experience of selling, things with stickers on sell better than those without.

Yes, various shapes and colours of sticker were used.

That sticker was in use for about ten years starting in 68, a round version was used later.

Details from Dartington Glass The First Twenty Years by Linda & Stuart Smithson. A very useful book and the only place to buy it seems to be ebay at present (possibly from the authors).

According to my book ( Dartington Glass the First twenty years - that square label was in use between 1968 and 1978. Gold indicated first quality. The same label in red indicated a second quality.

So it looks like quite an earlyish  one. And I agree - I always try to buy with stickers if possible!

Thank you very much John and JAK. Just think information I need.

JAK: I currently have this item for sale on ebay, as I don't have the Dartington book I will quote you.
