Title: Bagley Lamps
Post by: Bernard C on October 11, 2004, 11:30:23 AM
Having just done a brief write-up on what little I know of the Leek? / Bagley Celtic? lamp on the Ysart and related glass forum under the topic "Strathearn / Angus Sillars Drop Lamp Base (ST001) questions" http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,337.0.html , it occurred to me that a comprehensive list of known and possible Bagley lamps might be useful to collectors.

The Bowey & Parsons CD & book provides a useful starting point, but does not mention this lamp (not strictly a Bagley lamp as it was not sold by Bagley), the Zimmerman lamp, and some known variants of other Bagley lamps.

Would it be useful for me to provide a list in my web space?   It wouldn't take me long to knock up something simple in HTML, and could prove useful as an amalgam of prevailing knowledge.

Please append your views to this topic.    If there is enough demand I will have a go.   Don't expect anything sophisticated - just a table or two and some pictures, but it will be fast and will work on all standard screen sizes including 640x480 without having to scroll horizontally (as you should expect but so rarely find today).

Note that Chris & Val Stewart have recently discovered a fourth lamp in the Davidson range (the 804 "Good Companion" lamp, the 904/905 "Globe" / "Saturn" lamp, the 34S lamp base, and, now, the 697 candlestick lamp adaptation).    See http://www.cloudglass.com (http://www.cloudglass.com)

Presumably just the glass? Moncrieffs did those too.

Funny this old thread should be revitalised now, I referred to it only yesterday.  I've been keeping quiet...thought I might get a bargain, but I think it's going to go quite high now:

If Paul buys it and sells it on for a profit...just don't tell me ok?

Not this time Max I've now got far too many lamps, at present the house looks like Blackpool illuminations, so this can be all yours.

I'm not interested in this lamp or I wouldn't have put it on the board.  :)

Ooh, very pretty.

I'm a bit deco-lamp'ed out at the moment - I bought a batch of 5 desk lamps just recently - and I suspect the reserve on this one will probably be too high for my moth-filled wallet anyway. :(
