Title: nachtmann glass
Post by: kate46 on February 20, 2012, 09:39:04 PM
I posted in the wrong forum initially.
Does anyone know the start and stop dates for manufacturing
the Nachtmann Antika pattern?
I have come upon a set of these in amethyst which I plan to give
as a gift soon.  I would like to include that information.

Hi Kate  :hi:

in case nobody can answer your question you could try contacting them:

My attempts at getting Nachtmann to divulge any information on non-current articles didn't get me anywhere. Apparently they threw out all their old catalogues, and they are not interested in their history at all. Very sad.

If the Antika is still produced of course you might have a chance.

Thank you, Astrid.  You have a beautiful collection.
I did write to them, and they have not answered.
They have been purchased by another big company, Riedel,
and perhaps the Nachtmann core group has been retired out.
I love these glasses, and Dirk told me there is a lot of it
in Germany.  Proves I am not alone.  Nachtmann glass
masters had a reason for pride.  They may not choose to do
computers.  I do wish one of them could write a history of their
time with the company.

I have learned that Antika is discontinued.
I learned that from a crystal replacement
web site.   Just not when.

The folks at Nachtmann have responded to my question.
They report that Antika was started in 1993 and discontinued
in 1999.  This makes this a much younger pattern than I
had expected.  So this issue is resolved.  Thank you.
