quite modern I should think, although the colour arrangement looks less than common (at least to me), and the top is dimpled (with a little dust remaining in the dimple). Cased in clear quite thickly, and regrettably doesn't sit evenly, but rocks with slight wobble. Is it far eastern, or possibly from somewhere nearer home do people think, and does this colour pattern have a name? About 2.5"/65mm tall. thanks for looking, and grateful for all replies. :)

This weight could be from almost anywhere, including Japan as well as China and elsewhere. Sadly the sizes of the colured strips are not consistent.
The design is usually known as a "crown weight" - probably because of the similarity to a royal crown with its vertical elements over a central cushion. The better crown weights have a millefiori cane set at the top, which covers the join of the strips.

thanks for the informative reply, very interesting, even if a bit of a cosmopolitan animal. I think it looks quite decorative, and will keep with my other weights :)
