Hi Adam

This particular shape is not shown, but in Mark Hills new book on Caithness glass, p 53 there is a pic of a design 4103 vase in clear colour cased in amethyst 6.5 inches tall. This is from the Glenislea range designed by Colin Terris approx 1981.

quote < Glenislea comprised single colours in Heather, Peat or Moss, and those also cased in amethyst>>

Is yours in this size range?
This is the only mention I can find of a clear colour cased in Amethyst, and the date would fit with the label on yours, which is an 80's label.

hope this is a clue in the right direction

Hi Anne

The casing is neodymium - and jak it is 6.5" trall so it fits the bill as early 80s

Building up my Caithness cvollection now - while its still cheap LOL

BTW trhat deecanter and two goblets I got the other day was a corker at under a tenner

Thanks Adam

If you are building up a Caithness collection I would recommend a copy of Mark Hill's new book. Since receiving it I have already bought one piece I would not otherwise have known for sure was Caithness. It is a Domnhall O Broin lamp base from the 1960's. Will post a pic when it arrives!

Thanks Jak

I have seen the lampbases in shops going quite cheaply - but then again I'm in Glasgow Scotland so its awash with Caithness

Hope tou enjoy your piece when it comes and please don't mind me asking questions LOL

Thanks as ever Adam ;D
