Title: Cut glass vase question Czech? (Or Polish)
Post by: Ivo on November 16, 2005, 11:27:22 AM

I found a similar one on a German website the other day and they claimed "Czechoslovakia around 1970".
True or speculation?  Height 26 cm/ 10" and a bit.

Now then, I have one in purple, different shape but very similar type of decoration.  Mine has a sticker saying it's Polish!

Wow - can you manage a photograph of the sticker?

Certainly, my vase may not look immediately similar, it's the pattern I noticed, will take photo now.

Not good photo of label I know, it says, " MADE IN POLAND"
                                                           Violetta
                                                            Hand cut 24%lead crystal

This is interesting as to me it doesn't look "cut"more pressed/moulded.
Sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree but very similar sort of psychadelic pattern.  will have another go at the label later if you like.

OK, thanks great pictures.  I'm familiar with the products of Violetta: heavy cased crystal, cut to clear in a variety of CTC patterns & polished rims, impeccable quality.

The blue stick vase is very light blown glass, flashed and decorated in a rigourous geometric pattern. The blue vase is not by Violetta, but thank you ever so much for the suggestion.

It's very odd how this vase sticks in my memory Ivo.  I'm always half on the look-out for it...

I'm certain you've discarded the possiblility of Meyr's Neffe  & Otto Prutscher   , but that's the nearest I've come to this kind of quality.  I'll keep looking - must be out there somewhere!
