Title: Could this vase be by Hoglund?
Post by: lyndhurst44 on October 30, 2009, 10:19:37 PM
Hi,
I've looked at this vase which has been on display on a market dealers stall for months. I've often wondered who could have made it but never bothered even to handle it UNTIL I saw a recent Hoglund board topic. I can't actually find the topic now but there was a link given to a Hoglund collector. I remember seeing a similar designed random bubbled colourless vase or container with a coloured folded rim very much in the style of the item on the dealers stall, so I bought it and a littala? snowball candle holder for £2. It's about 9" tall.
Here it is.

This glass has become my father's favourite wine glass (I always assumed it was any old glass as long as it was full ;D). I've also seen a beaker or perhaps a small vase in the same colour as yours Bryn but can't remember where now.

The Hoglund pieces I have been able to find online in this style have the rim a bit flatter and any bulge looks to be on the inside of the vessel not bulging out on the outside like your vase and my old man's glass. Scroll down to the clear bowl with an amber rim here http://www.precisensan.com/antikforum/showthread.php?t=15352&page=3

So my current theory is that they are probably Polish made and imported/branded as SIA.

Sia is an importing company - they do ceramics too.
