Title: What in the name of giggity is this?

Found this unusual paperweight today and have no idea where to start looking for identification.  Other than here of course.

Has ground polished pontil mark and cut facets.

It appears to be a clear centre, cased in layers of verying thicknesses of glass of the following order.  Yellow, red, green, red, yellow, red. Some wear on the base.

I have no ideas about it other than it looks fairly old in style.

Anyone got any ideas?

Please let us know the size (height and diameter) of the item and also, if you can, show a photo showing the changes in colour "casing".

I am pretty sure it is from Murano. I have had dishes of very similar multi-layer structure from there. I do not know which maker, I'm sorry to say.

I wondered about murano because of the layered colours but the faceting? Did they do things in this style?

Your photos are really hard to see. Photos against a plain white background in daylight (or with white balance adjusted) would be much more helpful.

I've lightened the existing images as best as possible.  House is a bit chaotic at the moment as having a huge clearout so not able to photo on a white background.  It is a very dark piece of glass though, and not transparent either, except where the facets have been cut out
