Post by: VintageMissy on March 28, 2012, 02:36:56 PM
Please could someone help us to identify this lovely blue and green vase which has been donated to us for sale. It does have a signature but I cannot decipher it unfortunately

I've still had no luck deciphering this signature. I wonder if there might be a knowledgeable person out there now that can help?
Many thanks in advance

How tall is it and how are the base and rim finished?

Hi John

Its almost 12 inches tall. The base is completely smooth: two layers folded to make the base. The rim is thick and rounded off to the outside
I hope that makes sense

best wishes
Sarah

I may have had a breakthrough - I think its Graham Muir

Can anyone help further?

I've just compared the signature on my Wave Form. The Muir could be right, the G is a different formation.
Your sig. also looks a lot neater than mine - perhaps written on a "production" piece he made, by somebody else in the Studio?
(This does look like something produced more than once.)
I can't photograph it, my OH is on holiday and it takes two arms to hold it upside down to reveal the mark.
You could write to him at his site to ask. Send him the pics.  :)
I've heard he's very nice and friendly.

I did just that on Friday afternoon chopin-liszt and Graham replied this morning to confim it is one of his pieces. He named them DB vases "Double Bubble". The vase is mouth blown and the base is 'Steam-sticked' literally blown up by steam from an applied wet wooden cone. He told us that he hasn't made any of them for a number of years. He is very nice.

Thank you for your help too

Best wishes, Sarah

Great - now you have extra information and a definite maker - and a very prestigeous maker too.
Good luck with your sale.  :)
