Is the brown stuff inside rough?

It's quite odd, isn't it? Looks like a matchstriker although the internal tangerine-ish colouring and bubbles looks too modern for one.

Keith — Excellent photograph. :hiclp: :hiclp:
School of CameraJim (http://www.sigma-2.com/camerajim/cjgglassware.htm), perhaps?

Thanks for replies, and compliment Bernard, the mark on the base is for 1950-66 and the inside is smooth, the cutting on the outside doesn't seem rough enough to use as a striker,it flares out to much for a candle holder however it is very heavy for its size and the glass is so hard you can understand why the term metal is used(I know all glass is hard this just feels hard,I'm not explaining this very well am I)Keith.

More views would help on purpose.

Thanks to all,yes I would like to submit the picture, how do I do that?and here are some more pic's as requested,Keith.
-
I would suggest candle-holder (despite your doubts they are not always made practically) or ink well.
-
I've got what I think a more elegant piece of Webbs(1936-9) that might be more suitable for the calendar, does anyone agree?Keith.(not sure the photo's as good)
