Title: which Dartington FT pattern please.
Post by: Paul S. on March 19, 2012, 08:53:49 PM
The 'D' backstamp can just be seen in the top right of the second picture, beyond the ground/polished pontil mark.      I've been through both books but can't quite seem to nail this one - so grateful if someone does in fact know which FT design this is, and thanks for looking.      Height is about 6" - 150mm, and apologies the vase hadn't been cleaned before taking the photo.  :)

should have added, although it's blindingly obvious, 'very heavy optic moulding'.

Frustrating this one, it is similar to several FT designs but as you say not shown. Perhaps contacting the Smithsons (authors of First Twenty Years) might shed some light on it.

No idea what sort of records Dartington Crystal keep of this period - another avenue to explore.

thanks  -  and yes, it has puzzled me too.     I will send a request to Linda and Stuart Smithson - they have been helpful before  -  and will let you know the outcome.

I am not positive, but think that with that D etched backstamp it may be a later piece, which may be why it is not covered in the books. Nice piece anyway

I hear what you are saying Jackie  -  I'm ruminating - and going out for a bash round the charity shops - so will come back on this later. ;)
