Have just received this gorgeous set, and would love to know who made it. Its a very heavy set, with the larger bowl being 15cms across bowl, and 1.4 kgs, middle size one, 10 cms high 1kg and the smaller one,8cms high, 500 gms.
Svazzo has a similar little vase here, which looks like my middle one, but I can't see the silver in his. http://www.trocadero.com/svazzo/items/977281/item977281store.html#item

Could you do individual pics of each piece and add here?
I am thinking non Murano at the moment...
Question to other members...something look wrong with this? Or just me being exhausted...

More photos, this is the middle size one. They have controlled bubbles, then a layer of silver, which makes it very hard to take a photo. The thick clear glass casing is done in diagonal swirls.

Sorry sandy...my mind is blank...must be my growing disinterest in glass lately...they look fine...one bowl looks like it had a frosted base in the first pics...very odd to see a complete set though...

sandymae, I've been holding back answering because the pieces look like they could have been done by several companies. Archimede Seguso made some similar, as did AVeM. It can be difficult to tell after the label is removed. My first thought when I saw the pieces was A Seguso.

A Seguso was my first thought, too. Definitely Murano.

I also thought A. Seguso, :X: they had only the glue residue on them from the label unfortunately. Not very often you see a complete set, so very lucky. :sun:

sure I have seem something like this on the net too.
I was kinda wondering about that one base too -- as the base kinda looked (??) but then the glass seemed to look really nice, and well made so I was a bit (??). Lord knows, I am not the greatest at ID'ing anything...so I thought would let others with more knowledge have a go at it.

Yeah I am ok...just mental and physical exhaustion from work. It has left me feeling flat to most things lately plus I haven't bought any glass in a few months. Maybe if I found a beautiful SVdA piece I would perk up! :sun:

:hi: Hi everyone, I see what you mean about the smallest one, when I washed it, the base clears with hot water, and is crystal clear, but once dry just the base goes cloudy, maybe a reaction to something?
They are all definitely from the same set, no doubts about that, and are beautifully made.

:thup: Very close, but mine you can't feel the ribs on the inside, as mine has the layer of green, with the controlled bubbles. Its identical to my base. Larger than mine in height.
Svazzo has a similar one on his site, which is the link on my first post.
So it's still :X: that it's by A Seguso, just with a few added bits!

The base is not a huge concern to me. Polishing the bases is a lengthy process. If the final round is omitted, the base will end up feeling smooth, but looking a bit frosty. I had one AVeM vase that had the final stage omitted, so it did the same thing as yours, sandymae. The AVeM vase was good quality. I guess someone just got in a hurry to get it in the box. Maybe they had a rush order. Never can tell. I've seen a couple of other AVeM pieces that had frosty bottoms. This did make me wonder if the vessel might be AVeM, but I guess other companies could have the occasional frosty bottom.

I never thought of AVeM, did do a search for AVeM vases, but couldn't find any, except for the tutti frutti pattern, nothing like this, with a heavy base and spiral ribs.
I've had some AVeM, but don't know anything about their other designs.
Has anyone a site I could take a look at for AVeM? :huh:

I don't think there is any site for AVeM. They did a little bit of everything. They did much original work, but they often made things that looked like the work of other companies. (I guess this is true for most Murano companies, but is particularly true of AVeM, IMO.) There has to be other glass like yours online. It would be nice to find some with labels.

Been in Hospital for 13 days for 2 back operations so have not caught up for a while. Love the set, agree it looks like A.Seguso. I was surprised several months ago when I looked at a vase on Design and Arts with this spiral design and it was described as SvDA but as he worked there it is not so surprising.
Great to have a complete set in good condition - I hope? Is the small one made to fit the standard lighter?
Pity you washed them, has the glue from the label remained? If it has and it shows a scalloped edge then you would have evidence for A.S. I have a piece where the glue from the label is all that remains but that is enough to confirm my belief as Achimede Seguso.
