Title: Crown Crystal George VI 1949 commemorative mugs
Post by: ChrisStewart on June 05, 2006, 07:16:13 PM
Hi,
I was browsing Cathy’s Crown Crystal web site http://www.ozcrowncrystal.com and noticed the commemorative mug on the Kitchenware and Novelty items page and thought hang on I’ve seen them before. They are identical in shape and pattern to the Davidson ‘V for Victory’ and Festival of Britain mugs. Both of these can be seen on the cloud glass web site at http://www.cloudglass.com/Gallerypostwar.htm (second and third item on the page).

Cathy says on the web site that she has seen an example with the remains of a label indicating it was made in England. So were these commemorative mugs made by Davidson?

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris - they could very well be, and you will have cleared up a mystery. I'll update the site tonight.

Thanks very much!
