I purchased this Thomas Webb Crystal bowl today from my local charity shop and was wondering if it was bought new and given to the charity to sell on.
So how old is this bowl yesterday or a few years old(?), what pattern is it there is not a blemish on this bowl, it stands 4ins high the diameter of the open top is 6.3/8 ins the label is in tact and states International Crystal i have added a photo of the label if it of any use for ID in anyone's files cheers

so in realistic terms it's not Thomas Webb, even though it presented as that? and it may have been yesterdays make. but having all that said it is still of good quality, and only cost a peanut.

It means designed by and made for whoever currently owns the name. When the government database is playing nicely, I will check to see who. It's there as a registered trademark but the next link is broken... Thomas Webb, as such, closed in 1990 with the collapse of the Coloroll Group

Yes it is Thomas Webb. Which glassworks it was made in is an entirely different question. In the modern world names are assets like glass moulds have always been. Who dares to create a new name when they can buy one and devalue it >:D Get the latest Versace designs, hot from the grave. ;)
But it is possible it was made before they closed and a product of the original corporate entity, it still was not made in England though. Go for beauty instead of a name. But cataloguing such pieces is still important as one day someone will be trying to ID an unlabelled example.

Thomas Webb International Crystal, Thomas Webb Crystal and Thomas Webb are all trademarks owned by Waterford Wedgwood plc (http://www.waterfordwedgwood.com/insideWW.asp), who also own Rosenthal and Royal Doulton plus a couple of others. The trademark on your piece was registered in 1997 although it doesn't appear to be currently in use as a brand on their website

Would this not be from the period when Edinburgh Crystal were producing work under the Thomas Webb name and before it was recently bought by Waterford (after the demise of Edinburgh Crystal)?
That would certainly tie in with the date of 1997.

There is also some Thomas Webb glass, 1980s(?) linked with a Czechoslovakian maker - I think the cranberry-ware is such.

The trademark database doesn't mention a previous owner but it is probable as the registration was renewed in 2007
