Title: Heavy ashtray to ID
Post by: valjk on October 21, 2012, 02:13:28 AM
This is an attractive, heavy ashtray (perhaps I could use it as a pen rest!) from a mixed auction lot.  From above it appears symmetrical, with a groove at either end for cigarettes, or maybe a pipe.  The underneath is also symmetrical with a very raised rim which has a slightly rough surface.  But from the side you can see that the top slopes noticeably, and the cavity is quite small and sloping.  The colour of the glass is very vibrant and attractive.  I'm not sure if it is blown or moulded.  Any ideas as to maker?

Welcome. Looks decidedly Czech to my eyes, Rosice Glassworks may be worth looking into, although can't recall this exact shape at present. Sure someone will confirm for sure.  :)

It's almost certainly pressed in a single-piece mould
