Post by: Hel on July 20, 2012, 11:13:48 AM
Hi again..

Wondering about this one, its 26 cm  high and 32 cm around, very heavy, the coloring is interesting, sort of blending in a smokey way.

any thoughts?

thanks!

I've not seen anything like it before, no, but I love the colours and I do not think it is modern Chinese.
I think it's something quite good.  :)

Since I posted this I have "met" 3 others of this kind here in Iceland, same shape but the colours sometimes reversed, and one was a bit smaller.

Makes me think these types of vases were almost mass produced mid century.

I'd think this would just send you in a "close to home" direction for the origin. You've seen 4 in Iceland, but nobody else seems to have seen any anywhere.
I'd have noticed this - it's my favourite colours together and it's well made. I am wondering if Hadeland might be a contender?
I really don't know much about it though.

Yes, you are right

Magnor could also be a possibility, something scandinavian at least!

Icelanders did and do all go to Denmark and Norway a lot.

thanks
