Title: Skrdlovice Glassworks - Jan Beranek Confirmation ....?
Post by: Greg. on April 25, 2010, 12:46:49 PM
Hi All,

Picked this up today, believing it was a Jan Beranek piece. Measures 1 foot tall and 3.5kg!

Thought it or was hoping it was the same piece as shown in Marks Hills book on page 27.

Any thoughts or additional information most welcome.

Thanks,
Greg

Of course, 100 per cent Skrdlovice and Jan Beranek design. I am not sure though of the chronolgy though when an added casing of clear occured or alternative colours. This certainly appears to be an early colourway though. It could also be an earlier version of the same pattern than the picture attached, perhaps the design grew slightly wilder over time, since aside from fancy photography, there is certainly much more clear glass on this attached one and more "hot working." Graham Cooley displayed one at Broadfield as part of the Hi Lo Sklo exhibition, that was near identical to yours, all are Jan Beranek vases from the same pattern,

Robert
