Title: Smoked/grey glass vase - ID = Gangkofner design for Hessenglas
Post by: Pip on September 07, 2009, 04:29:09 PM: Does anyone have any info on this vase? It looks Czech production to me, has a polished base. No signatures or marks but plenty of base wear.

Paradisetrader, Terry and I have been working on these for @ five years now, almost certainly Czech, but, given the shortage of catalogues, still have not tied it down to a particular factory. Looking at inter-war production, not post-WWII.

beeing Czech for 50 years I have to say, I never seen piece like this here :). I expect that it not Czech and amd not pre-war production.

The vase shown there as ´Schwangere Jungfrau´ much reminded me of
the one in this thread. However - got a copy of ´Aloys F. Gangkofner -
Glas und Licht´ by Xenia Riemann today and can confirm, that this also
is a Gangkofner design for Hessenglas.
BTW the site is well worth exploring. Many of the Hessenglas workers
came from Bohemian factories such as Riedel. Some of their designs
reflect the Hessenglas founder´s and worker´s origin.

are ´avantgarde´. I must admit it wasn´t love at first sight, but meanwhile I think they
really are an important and (everything´s relative) innovative design.
