Hi, I have a piece of Greener as shown. :)
http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-4291
It has the registration number 176239. According to my book, the design was registered on the 10 of August 1891.
It measures 11cm high and 15cm diameter.
Can anyone tell me what this was used for please? Something missing perhaps?
-
maybe it goes the other way up, a wide base and small flute for a single flower?

window display for shoes?

Here's some extra pictures

As deep as it looks.

It goes inwards a little in the middle but not much.

Oooh, I love guessing games.
Could it be a candle holder

Well done Carolyn, I think you get the cookies. :D
Jenny Thompson's book does give the RD as a vase in the listings, but in the text on page 12 she also says that the registration was for the the top alone (i.e. that leaf frill pattern), and that this was also found as a nightlight holder in both plain and coloured glass.
I think what you have, TC, is the nightlight holder version of the design - as Carolyn says, a candle holder. :)

Thanks very much Anne and Carolyn. :D
I had the information infront of me, oops.
I guess they made other items with this design.

Unless this is classed as a vase? :)
-
Yup, I think they must have, TC. That pattern could have been used on a whole range of items I suppose. We know of a vase, a bowl and a nightlight holder so far... I wonder what else there was?

Well done Carolyn, I think you get the cookies. :D
Oh my gosh, I'm sooooo excited. I can't believe I got something right. 8) 8)

Some photos of a pair of small comports / nightlight stands (about 5 inches diameter) in opalescent blue, a nightlight holder about 4¾ in diameter in plain blue, a creamer in yellow-green opalescent uranium – all marked RD 176230, and an unmarked bud vase in amber glass (though I do have other photos of the bud vase with the RD number).
So, pieces from the registered design were used in a variety of shapes and in several colours.

An unusual shape for Greener & Co.’s RD 176239, a bowl (20cm diameter and 12cm deep) in plain yellow-green uranium glass, the ‘petals’ of the rim being a single row and standing vertically.
