Some things wink to catch your eye others shout, this one screamed for attention.
Looks to me like a Pitcher Plant, anyone any ideas on origin? had it a good few years.
Thank you

Hello Linsmins, welcome to the board. I've split your ID request out of the Themes topic, so we can take a look at it. ID requests should be posted as new topics in Glass please, unless you are sharing images of your collection of parts of it (i.e. themes) just for the pleasure of sharing them, in which case they can go into the Themes topic. :)
Your vase is of the shape known as a jack in the pulpit vase (abbreviated to JIP often). Can you add a picture of the base please as this often tells us much about a piece, even if it's unsigned or unmarked. Also, does the vase glow if you light it with a UV / black light? And would you add dimensions too, the more info we have the more we can help. Thanks!

Thank you for quick response :D
Yes it does have a rather dramatic reaction to light, although the photograph does not show so well (dinky camera)
no sig. on the base.
-
Oops! and it is 20cm tall, approx 7cm base.
And quite heavy.

Frankly I don't know, however it reminds me of these JIP(s) from the operation below:

Very pretty and gorgeous colours - I think it might be Chinese :-\ that base, and the brightness of those colours.
I could be wrong but I do have a piece of Baijan glass and the pontil mark is snapped off and very neat and smoothly finished. I'm not saying it's like that for all their work, but that pontil mark on the JIP is not how I think they would leave their pieces.

Thank you for your replies, found another that could have been made by the same maker on Worthpoint but with blue flower & more elongated body sold on ebay.

I too think these are reasonably modern and Chinese (or something similar). I would also be very surprised if it was uranium glass
-
I really like it - but if it is uranium, I adore it and I want it!
Something about the bloodiness of the red as well as the pitcher plant theme really attracts me. A bit gruesome!
