Hello All. I recently picked up this Blenko vase. The underside of the base is signed Richard Blenko and the year "95" (or possibly "93). The color appears to be emerald green and the base has blue threading. It's rather large and stands about 12 1/2" tall. The body is approximately 7" wide. The vase has a very unusual shape. I've searched the 1993 and 1995 Blenko catalogs and I don't see this shape listed. Perhaps it was a limited-edition piece or a one-of-a-kind piece? I've been unable to find another example pictured anywhere online. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

:) It is absolutely fine. Just a nice early bit of Earthtones.
I tried to find the bits that had this lovely striated sort of strapping in them rather than the more blocky solid rope-like sort. It's a fairly well known sort of experimental shape, with that wide neck and the sides probably marvered flat.
Mdina Tortoiseshell is just plain deep brown striations spots and swirls, it doesn't have the yellow.
It's IoWSG Tortoiseshell that is yellow and brown. It confuses me, but that's not hard. ;D

Bought recently thinking it maybe a Mdina glass although it has an unusual too my eyes anyway
color way it is a bit like Tortoiseshell but yellow more than Ochre in the back ground to what i know as Mdina
colors maybe an unusual color for Germany i think they had yellow & red pieces more for their markets this
maybe another for their or similar for another country??? The textured sides of the bottle have deep indents
similar to other pieces that Mdina made for some reason i can not remember this color ???? Sadly got rid of
my books on this subject so hoping the Mdina experts can help me. In any case i love it as it has lovely colors and
is really weighty the base clear part is slightly bluish i think in tint rather than clear? Measures 14 x 10.5 x 9.5 cm
Thanks for looking :)

Glass Trinket Sets / Mystery Set 129 ?
« Last post by theElench on Today at 08:20:40 AM »
A comb tray in green glass but doesn't re-act to UV light.

It measures:
Length.   25cms.
Max. width.   7.5cms.
Max. height.   3.5cms.

Sorry if the photos are a bit small.  The notes I wrote about re-sizing say "400 to 700 pixels on the longest side" but I wasn't sure if there if there is a maximum, so tried 750.

It reminds me a bit of the fairly recent ('90s-ish) Polish Jozefina oil burners.  ???

Glass / Chunky blue sommerso solifleur vase - maker?
« Last post by chilternhills on Yesterday at 01:57:56 PM »
Can anyone help me identify this vase, please? It's elliptical in cross section, and measures 15 cm wide, 13 cm high, and about 7 cm thick. It's unusual that the base is ground flat and open. The top has a large bubble with a small orifice. In other words, there is a cavity in the base and another opening at the top.

I can't find anything quite like this online. It's similar to Kosta Boda in some respects, but I don't know. There are no identifying marks on the piece.

Any suggestions as to identity is appreciated.

Anton

Hi Christine,
regarding the signature i did think this might be a possibility after having no luck at all on the net.
Not knowing anything about Bohemian glass, could this be older than the date on it.
Cheers,Paul.

The weight looks Bohemian to my eye. The name is likely that of the person it was gifted to
