Hi again to all members,I am posting this on here on behalf of my parents who purchased this opalescent dressing table set with a lovely rose design. The opalescence is thick and has a lovely gold fire to it when held to the light.Doesnt seem to be a ring holder though.Any help on identifying would be greatly received please. Many thanks.

That is stunning! And one I've not seen before either - I'd love to know who made it. I take it there are no marks or numbers anywhere on it anywhere?
-
If memory serves, this is S. Reich & co., probably mid 30s but I don't have any references to hand . Maybe Pamela will recognise it.
-
Hi again, thanks foe your replies! There are no makers marks or numbers on the pieces as much as we've looked! The opalescence does remind me of a bowl I used to have in opalescent which had heron type birds around the rim which was scalloped and there was some sort of stylized foliage decorating it.I also have an opalescent bowl which is the float bowl that goes with the Reich lady and that too is the same sort of silky opalescence,so could be Reich? Heres a picture of the tray the Design is very raised.
-
I only read the first two posts before I speculated Reich. I have a jadeite (uranium) grapefruit dish which has an open rose type bowl, similar to the candlesticks, and roses pressed under the saucer rim with similar spiky leaves to the tray. This bowl is exactly the same colour as a Reich Viktoria trinket bowl. (I also have the grapefruit bowl on a metal stand as a sugar bowl in clear and frosted green, and a violet vase also based on the open rose and in clear and frosted green, both uranium)

Reich was my first impulse too but I can't prove it (yet!)
-
Reich is the only manufacturer I can think of that did this type of thick opalescence, did Brockwitz do any opalescent pieces-Im not sure as I have seen the Brockwitz nude lady with the peg base in opalescent glass before.I did once own a lovely piece of Reich which was a thick frosted stunning green glass bowl that had detailed foliage on and the 3 feet were modelled as elves/dwarves clinging to circles, which I did a swap with a fellow collector.Have never seen one since! I have also seen a frosted glass bowl that is decorated with bearded men holding ice picks tunnelling through a cavern it was gorgeous and then it had a frog in the middle with 3 dwarves clinging on looking over!!!

quite sure it's Reich

Never understood how they were able to position the boxes and more ;o))
-
Hello Pamela, thanks for the contribution. That is definately the same tray you have in jade.My mum said the same thing about positioning the boxes as they do seem to "rock" as the design is raised. Its a stunning set and Im so jealous she has it! She has some nice pieces I shouldnt take her to the fairs really as I always seem to let her buy the glass out of chivalry! Haha! We did go to a fair last week together and I managed to buy this bowl/lamp base.

Thanks Pamela, I really should have remembered where I saw the pattern before, of course that jade tray used to live on my sideboard, along with a rather nice little figural soapdish before they went to live in Germany. silly me ;).

Another Reich ‘roses’ trinket set but this time in lovely jade uranium glass (highly reactive to UV light):
The tray and candlesticks are the same pattern as the opalescent set (tray #8776, candlesticks #8775) but this time there is a single lidded pot pattern #8789 as also shown in the c.1934 Reich catalogue at

Now on GTS website here https://www.glasstrinketsets.com/cms3/czechoslovakian/reich/8751-8775-8776
-
Both sizes of trinket pot but bases only, the peach is uranium - a bit of a surprise. Only the peach has the moulded Made In Chechoslovakia mark while both have a moulded Reich mark.

-
The amethyst pot is part frosted, the peach fully frosted.
-
I love the colour of them both. And I've not see any with the moulded marks so far. May I add your photos to the GTS website please John?
-
By all means Anne, you are very welcome to use them.
-
Thank you John, very much appreciated.
